SIMONI RACING
Mirabello, FE (Italy)
This intervention was conceived following the serious earthquake that hit the territory of Ferrara in May 2012 and completely destroyed an industrial building, literally imploded after the collapse of the entire roof.
With this project we tried to convey all the “energetic” and reactive entrepreneurial spirit of the property, inserting an architecture only apparently introverted, which instead shows its own dynamism through sculptural forms that expand independently towards the outside.
The entire perimeter of the shed is completely closed in order to obtain a “clean” curtain on which, irregularly assembled Corten steel elements, enhance their shape by signaling the entrance to the activity.
These elements, inserted in the existing structure almost like blades that find continuity in the distribution of the interior, will then be machined with holes of different diameters and backlit to increase the perception and impact even during the night. Inside, the volume will instead be carved at the center for the creation of an intimate courtyard, with a regular shape, overlooking all the rooms distributed on two levels, in a dynamic devoted to the search for a rediscovered peace.
