GABICCE EVENUE
Gabicce Mare (Italy)
This intervention of urban regeneration, whose construction is foreseen in 2024 thanks to a brilliant local administration, that after years, decides to completely renew the commercial axis of Via Cesare Battisti and the connected Piazza Matteotti inside the seaside town of Gabicce Mare. An intent of considerable size with secondary important implications for a reality that has always based its economy on tourism.
The only constraint demanded is the necessity to maintain carriagible the street center during the day, immediately limiting the design choices.
This is how the pedestrian path (paved in wood) was collected on the west side by inserting a series of gates that, during the closure to the evening traffic, will allow to “invade” the road. Between these openings, parking areas alternating with green spaces cut out a sequence of open-air living available to all.
The domestic scale brought to the urban one represents one of the foundations of this project.
Geometric volumes of different height and development alternate in shape as in uses generating a braille system at the service and the size of humankind.
To complete the intervention, the reworking of the square, now compressed by ground elements and raised ones, on the conceptual canons expressed previously in dynamics based on the expansion of the perceived space in which water, contained in lowered geometries, will become the absolute main character.
The flooring will be treated with an innovative pigmented resin with geometric inserts coinciding with the development of the joints, effectively bringing the technological need to the scale of the architectural design.
